We ordered a goose with side dishes. She was finished on time at the agreed time. We loved it. The meat tender, the skin optimal and the side dishes were also very tasty ...
Everything fine, gladly again
Good rooms
Rooms dated but the restaurant is 5 stars
Nice quaint hotel, beer garden not to top .... 1a
Lovely, fine foods.
Very friendly staff and good food. We were with bikes and it was perfect.
Beautiful setting, old-fashioned look. Charming in a way. Food was nothing short of good. Really enjoyed it. The Oriental owner is a sweetheart. The room was nothing to cheer about. Definitely overpriced: up 2 flights of stairs and no wifi. Breakfast very ordinary, not worth the price either. Very strange: without having seen the room, we had to pay in advance. Cash! Until then, but the fact that we then also had to pay for the meal in cash, surprised us. All the more so where besides us the Germans could simply pay with a card (“yes, that's a German bank card”). Strange situation. In short: strategic location, food cannot be better, but the hotel can certainly be improved on a number of points. Prices on the second floor without internet should really go down!
I found the food very, very tasty, especially the restaurant offers a lot of different dishes that are offered on different weeks. The service is very polite and nice and sometimes funny. The ambience is very old-fashioned, but it is very cozy and I think it's just great !!!!!
Very decent rooms at absolutely fair prices
We spent our evening together in the restaurant "Zum Engel". We had already looked at the location on the internet and were really looking forward to "Nix aus de Bix" and fine cuisine, as presented on the internet. The description on the website "rustic" was exceeded, because when we entered the house we were delighted with an involuntary view of the kitchen with an open door and the smell of chips. The entrance area was carelessly disregarded (in the event of possible renovation work) and so we were curious what to expect inside. The interior was shown to us as presented on the internet, simple and rustic. We were relieved not to come across any nasty surprises and looked forward to a nice evening for two. The waiter, Mr. Höhl served us courteously and you had the feeling to be welcome. A look at the menu and the promised Thai weeks promised us not only "nothing from de Bix", but at the same time exorbitant prices for a location that apparently does not attach great importance to interior. We didn't want to be put off by this and ordered a starter and main course. The order was expanded to include a greeting from the kitchen. Breaded goose meat as a croquette and served next to a sad red cabbage. Did head chef Walter get the impression that he was still successfully distributing his Christmas leftovers to his guests? Commendable in the age of "no waste". So we ate our gans croquette with red cabbage and felt transported back to the Christmas holidays. After we tried the greeting from the kitchen and found it unsuitable for our Thai meal, we looked forward to our starter. Fortunately, this was not presented on the standard white formica plates (like the greeting from the kitchen before), but came on pretty ceramic plates. 12 sharp euros, for a starter that we liked. Hungry for more, I was greeted by my € 20 satay skewers. Two tender skewers, it's good that I ordered a starter, because women and hunger, not a good combination. The rice was OK. Not bad, not good, standard, not what you expected to find. I had to divide up the sauce miserably and we already knew the "salad sauce" in the bowl from both starters. The skewers were OK, but nothing more. All in all i was disappointed. My husband asked me what I would have expected if you weren't with the Thai, and just because Mr. Walter's wife was Thai, that didn't make him the Thai kitchen god. Since there was no dessert, other than various sorbet balls, we decided to settle our bill. While we were waiting for our bill, the owner, chef, came outside and sat at a table next to us. I was delighted that there was interest in Mr. Walter's guests and I was already prepared to accept constructive criticism. I thought about this very quickly, however, after I saw how angry Mr Walter ranted about a guest who would have complained about his piece of meat. Embarrassed, we the waiter hoped that Mr. Höhl would come quickly so as not to have to overhear further conversations. High-priced restaurant, with rustic character and unfortunately also unprofessional owners. I would have liked to have given him the tip that the customer is king, but before my husband and I would become the scene of his anger, we decided to pay for it and let the evening end without fuss. A bad aftertaste remains and we will not visit this location again anytime soon. Price-performance paired with RUSTIC charm and a choleric boss, NO THANKS!
Of a total of 5 rump steaks ordered, half of them were very tight with muscle tendons and could no longer be enjoyed. After complaining, the identical steak was presented to me on a new plate. This was very uncomfortable for the waitress, she took the plate back into the kitchen without hesitation and apologized. Came back the rum steak washed into chunks with a greeting from the chef, the kitchen crew would have tried and it would be fine. The steak was calculated in full, which cost the entire kitchen team. Something like this not only testifies to unprofessionalism, but is simply bold. The icing on the cake was that the restaurant owner apparently talked to guests about this incident. A good piece of advice, Mr. Owner, you absolutely have to learn to deal with criticism professionally and make sure that discretion is always maintained. An unhappy guest, who is presented in this way, no longer tells 10 people in the age of WorldWideWeb, but umpteen. So they are working to keep their customers happy and not show them off like that!
Cozy room good food nice contact gladly again
We were there over the weekend. The reception was very friendly. A really nice old property, especially the wine around the whole yard was very impressive. Our room, unfortunately a bit old. Unfortunately, the floor covering, carpet and tiles had their good times behind them. You always had a leg shower, footbath, because the drain was blocked! Cables simply ran on the floor or hung in the air on the way to the television. We slept comfortably in a four-poster bed. Bed and bedclothes very clean. You just weren't allowed to look up at the bed, nothing for those allergic to house dust. The food on the first evening was great! Really good. Unrecognizable on the second evening. Meat totally dry, French fries kept warm for a long time. It's a shame, that's how the good reputation goes! What I found strange is that as a hotel guest you should reserve a table for the evening when booking. Although there were still enough free places every evening ??? Finally, a nice little hotel in need of renovation.
Good hotel with fantastic cuisine. Kok is also a super host. Highly recommended.
